Founded in 1969 in Lincolnshire, Illinois, Zebra (Nasdaq: ZBRA) established itself as the world's largest manufacturer of label and receipt printers over the decades. Zebra focuses purely on thermal printing and has developed a wealth of expertise in the field of various thermal printing techniques, RFID and industrial standard labels.

After many acquisitions in the printer sector, 2014 was surprisingly followed by the acquisition of the Motorola Solutions Enterprise Mobility, the world's leading manufacturer of industrial mobile computers, barcode scanners and other products for automatic data collection. Only two years earlier Motorola had completed their product portfolio by acquiring Psion Plc. In the latest iteration, the Psion Workabout Pro is still a unique modular and individually expandable device for many special applications at TIS.

Motorola Solutions Enterprise Mobility emerged Symbol Technologies, acquired by Motorola in 2007 and one of the most innovative companies in the industry for automatic data capture and barcode capture. Symbol Technologies revolutionized the market for rugged devices with the MC9090 and set a standard that is still common in many warehouses around the world.

Zebra Technologies presented a similarly revolutionary concept for the smartphone generation in 2016 with the TC8000, proving that the title of the most innovative manufacturer of auto-ID products is still being rightfully claimed. This claim is underlined by over 4,100 patents.
